Our Datsun 510 with an opening hood became an instant legend when we first released it in 2017, and so have our other editions emblazoned with the Gulf racing theme. Now two of your favorite things combine for a piece you’ll love adding to your collection.

Our design team chose this winning piece for you. We used one of your all-time favorite castings – the opening hood version of the Datsun 510. We wanted to trim it out with deco that always gets your motors running – the iconic Gulf racing livery. The result? A timeless legend that never was.

A full-diecast piece, the hood opens to expose painted engine details. It’s finished in Ransburg powder blue with marigold orange striping and badged with period-correct Gulf logos. A gloss white roof, matte black-painted chassis, and Real Riders racing wheels round out this Gulf-themed speed box, delivered in a display-worthy acrylic case.

t was an especially exciting time for racing in the late ’60s and early ’70s, and of course that’s when Hot Wheels was born, too. Makes your head spin! Things like the eye-catching Gulf logo and color scheme began to appear on race cars, and a sassy little JDM number – the Datsun 510 – showed up as an unlikely winner on the racing circuits.
