Dance Dance Revolution es la serie pionera del genero de simuladores de ritmo/baile en los videojuegos. Los jugadores se colocan sobre una "plataforma de baile", también llamada "pista" y presionan con los pies las flechas dispuestas en forma de cruz sobre esta pista, siguiendo el ritmo de la música y el patron visual que aparece en la pantalla.
